Up to 400 boards could be broken at annual event to raise funds for sick children
FAYETTEVILLE, NY. – November 6, 2019 – The mighty sound of one-inch thick hardened pinewood boards being shattered by the legs and fists of karate students will be heard at Lawrence World Class Karate dojo as the karate school hosts its 15th annual board-breaking event to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (St. Jude).
Businesses and members of the public are invited to attend the break-a-thon and sponsor a karate student to break pinewood boards for a donation of $10 per board. Lawrence World Class Karate dojo hopes to receive enough donations so it can break 400 boards.
The event will be held at 2pm on Sunday, November 10th, 2019 at 6907 East Genesee Street, Fayetteville, NY, 13066. All are welcome.
“We are excited to host this very worthwhile fundraising event for St. Jude and invite businesses, families and members of the public to come to our event and support this very noble cause,” said Rande Lawrence, headteacher at Lawrence World Class Karate. “No child should be sick and have to suffer as a result of a life-threatening illness, all children deserve a fighting chance. We aim to help them with our event and will donate all proceeds to St. Jude.”
Sponsoring the breaking of a board helps to ensure that St. Jude families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food because all a family should worry about is helping their child live!
St. Jude is one of the world’s premier pediatric research institutions and is leading the way in which the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
